Looking for the Best Romance Movies?
Any attempt to name the best romance movies of all times is an extremely daunting task, but I can help you find an exceptional collection. As a lover of those romance movies that are done well, and someone weary of those with no imagination, I am pleased to give you a few ideas if you are on the hunt for some good love stories. Almost any discussion about romance causes images to pop into one’s head of the Queens of romantic films: Julia Roberts, Meg Ryan, Reese Witherspoon and Sandra Bullock. However, if you really want to learn about the very best romance movies, you have to broaden your horizons a bit. I suggest taking a look at the classics.
Gone with the Wind (Four-Disc Collector’s Edition)
|
Gone with the Wind is the ultimate romance movie. Scarlett O’Hara and Rhett Butler displayed one of the best examples of a loving and hateful relationship ever put on film. They verbally torment one another, cheat on one another, and provoke one another. Yet, they always come back to one another. In fact, they cannot stay away from one another. The best part is that if you are not a fan of lovingly passionate movies, there are plenty of other things to love about Gone with the Wind. It provides an unflinching look at the Civil War and everything left in its aftermath, and the cinematography is stunning. |

Love Actually (Widescreen Edition)
|
Maybe you are looking for something a little more lighthearted for your romance. Love Actually was released in 2004, and it is one my best friend and I watch every year for Christmas. The biting British humor is a nice counterbalance to the sentimental love stories shared among a large group of folks in England. Such a large cast of characters, and each with his or her own tale, ensures that you will find at least ONE story endearing. |

While You Were Sleeping
|
You didn’t think we were going to get through this without at least one Sandra Bullock movie, did you? This is one of my favorites. Sandra was still up and coming as an actress, and she brought a fresh goofiness to her portrayal of Lucy. She had genuine chemistry with Bill Pullman, but most of all, you will fall in love with the wacky supporting characters. Perhaps all of the best romance movies are set during Christmas? |
